Triangle, circle, cross, square: the controller designed by Teiyu Goto imposed its four symbols on generations of thumbs! Launched in Japan on December 3, 1994 under the drive of Sony engineer Ken Kutaragi, the PlayStation became the first console to pass 100 million units. Behind that record, there is Cloud Strife's oversized sword in Final Fantasy VII, Solid Snake's pinpoint infiltration in Metal Gear Solid and the race cars of Gran Turismo, the machine's biggest hit. In 1997, the DualShock and its two vibration motors moved the shaking from the screen to the players' palms. From the PS2 in 2000 to the PS5 in 2020, each generation built its catalogue of exclusives and its own legends, the ones you buy for the console as much as for the game. As for the four symbols, they left the controller long ago to proudly take their place in collections!
