At DC Comics, the city is part of the costume! Metropolis raises its towers in 1938, when Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster launch Superman there in Action Comics and open the golden age of the comic book. Gotham answers the following year in Detective Comics, drawn by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, with a vigilante who has no superpowers at all, only his training, his fortune and his detective's instinct. In 1941, William Moulton Marston adds Wonder Woman, an Amazon princess whose lasso forces liars to tell the truth. Then the map stretches further in 1960: Flash races through Central City, Aquaman rules the depths of Atlantis, and both are among the founders of the Justice League. Facing them, the Joker, Lex Luthor and Harley Quinn are a reminder that a hero is never worth more than the shadow he faces. And the adventure continues long after the last panel, with POP figures to display by the hundreds and video games that make these streets walkable!
