Wade Wilson, a former soldier turned mercenary, sees his life turned upside down when he is diagnosed with terminal cancer. In a desperate act to be cured and buy himself time, he agrees to take part in the experimental Weapon X program, which promises to trigger regenerative healing powers. The experiments succeed, but leave Wade disfigured and mentally unstable. Taking the name Deadpool, he sets out on a quest for revenge against the man responsible for his condition.
