Presented as a making-of book of the saga with an original approach, this album offers an enjoyable foray into Hogwarts. Each double page focuses on a specific place in the iconic school and its surroundings, presenting some twenty locations to the reader. Each section reveals how certain parts of Hogwarts are designed and portrayed on screen. You will learn how the Whomping Willow or Buckbeak the Hippogriff were animated. You will discover what the potion jars contain, or how the geography of Hogwarts evolved over the course of the films. The rich visual content of each page lets you explore the mysterious and intriguing elements of the universe.
You will find very few images from the films in this book, which gives center stage to a few sketches, but above all to original drawings in bright colors that bring a pleasant breath of fresh air. The very airy layout makes for quick reading, all the more so as the texts are short and clear.
Pleasant to read, they offer you small anecdotes, a few quotes from scenes and some context for certain elements. However, despite this smooth and simple text, the content lacks depth and you will not find any exclusive content in these lines. The Mysteries of Hogwarts is an introduction to the locations for younger readers, in a colorful and educational way with cool and funky illustrations. This album is a lovely bubble, pleasant to read, for setting off to Hogwarts for the first time.
