An empty hospital corridor, a sheriff's deputy waking from a coma in a world handed over to walkers: The Walking Dead sets its scene in 2010 on AMC, under the direction of Frank Darabont. It all comes from the comic launched in 2003 at Image Comics by Robert Kirkman, drawn by Tony Moore and then Charlie Adlard until its final issue in 2019. For eleven seasons, up to the 2022 finale, Rick Grimes drags his small band of survivors, with Glenn, Maggie and Carol, from one makeshift shelter to the next. Daryl Dixon's crossbow, the katana of Michonne escorted by her two chained walkers, the barbed-wire bat Negan calls Lucille: every silhouette has become an icon. The spin-offs extended the contagion, from Fear the Walking Dead to Daryl Dixon, and the apocalypse keeps haunting the shelves, between comic books, novels, video games and survivor figures! Because the series never said anything else: the dead are not the real danger, the living handle that just fine!
