A yellow taxi stuck in the vertical traffic jams of 2263 New York, a stranger with orange hair wrapped in white bandages: The Fifth Element unfolds a brightly colored future like no other! Luc Besson sends Korben Dallas, a former special forces major turned jaded driver, onto the trail of Leeloo and the four elemental stones entrusted to the Mondoshawans, the only barrier against absolute Evil. Lying in wait, industrialist Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg pays the shapeshifting Mangalores, while priest Vito Cornelius recites his prophecies and Ruby Rhod shouts into his microphone between two notes from Diva Plavalaguna, over at Fhloston Paradise. The costumes designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier complete the transformation of this 1997 film into a pop fresco where kitsch becomes sublime. POP figures of Korben and Leeloo, neon t-shirts and novel pages extend this fluorescent chaos far beyond the screen!
