A Central American jungle, a heavily armed commando unit, and a silhouette revealed in translucent ripples just before it strikes: since 1987 and John McTiernan's film, the Predator has reigned over our imagination of the hunter from elsewhere! Facing Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the creature deploys its arsenal: thermal vision that reduces men to heat signatures, a shoulder-mounted plasma cannon, retractable wrist blades, and those human laughs it plays back to spread panic. Under the mask, mandibles and dreadlocks give it a look you can recognize among a thousand others, matching the code of honor that allows this trophy collector only prey worthy of it. Named Yautja in the novels and comics, the species then hunted in the streets of Los Angeles in 1990, and later on the Comanche plains of 1719, where the warrior Naru stands up to it. Enough to turn a shelf into a trophy room!
