Hunger Games collection

Twelve districts held by the throat by a gorged Capitol, and every year a Reaping that draws one girl and one boy from each of them to make them kill each other live on air: that's the chilling arithmetic of Panem! Suzanne Collins set the rules of her arena in 2008. Katniss Everdeen volunteers in place of her little sister Prim, then blows those rules apart with a handful of poisonous berries. Jennifer Lawrence lent her face to the character on screen from 2012, surrounded by Peeta Mellark, the other tribute from District 12, and Haymitch Abernathy, its only living victor turned mentor. Then there are Cinna's flaming costumes for the girl on fire, the mockingjay pin that became the flag of the rebellion, and that three-finger salute raised in silence that reality borrowed from fiction. From the original trilogy to the youth of future president Coriolanus Snow, the universe continues in novels where the arena plays out again far from the cameras.
