An enchanted rose shedding its petals under its glass bell, a spell to break before the last petal falls: in the Beast's castle, every object has something to say! Brought to the screen by Disney studios in 1991, the film takes up the tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, from which most adaptations descend. In the eyes of the village, Belle is guilty of preferring books and of turning down the boastful Gaston, but it is she who will take her father Maurice's place in the dungeon. Lumiere the candelabra, Cogsworth the clock, Mrs. Potts and little Chip watch over a transformation sealed by a gifted library and a golden waltz, to the music of Alan Menken and the lyrics of Howard Ashman. The first animated film nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, the feature was given a live-action remake in 2017 with Emma Watson. And at the Beast's home, no one has ever known how to turn a guest away!
