A white dress, a cracked porcelain face and a fixed stare that never blinks: Annabelle never needed to move to suck all the air out of a room! Seen right from the opening of James Wan's The Conjuring in 2013, the doll quickly left its display case to carry its own trilogy, all the way to the workshop of doll maker Samuel Mullins that David F. Sandberg went digging up in 2017. Because the toy is not haunted: Ed and Lorraine Warren see in it the relay of a demonic entity that is only waiting for an invitation. Everything then revolves around their artifact room, the blessed cabinet that must absolutely not be opened and the character who opens it anyway. That is the franchise's real talent: turning a child's gift into the most unsettling thing in the house. That leaves the POP figures, neatly lined up behind a glass door that no one has promised to keep shut!
